These are reference materials which are NOT certified for composition. They represent “infinite” of ‘saturation” thicknesses of various element, compounds and common alloys, all with typical purities > 99%. In the case of alloy reference materials in this category, the composition is not certified, though the nominal or typical composition may be listed on the label of a given alloy reference material. While not used for quantitative analysis, these standards can be used to normalize calibrations, provide a blank base to place beneath certified foil standards for calibration, obtain reference spectra for deconvolution operations, allow derivation of fundamental parameter coefficients and enhance qualitative analysis.
